Dealing With Your Past, Remaking Your Present
and Owning Your Future

Have you ever met someone so troubled by their past it seems to paralyze them in the present?  They are riddled with guilt and debt that they don't know what to do now and can't even begin to see the future.

That's worth our discussion now as we consider our new walk through the Financial Checklist.  We would all do well to consider this about our past:
  • We have all made mistakes.  That seems like an obvious reality, but admitting this will help us move past those mistakes.
  • Who we are today is built on our past and does include our failures, but it is also built on our successes.  Our prior successes matter.
  • We can't change the past, but we have complete control over the present and an unlimited chance to shape our future.  Our attitudes matter...significantly.

Consider Chuck Swindoll's famous words about our attitude:

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes.”

If life is 90% how we react to it, then we can't let the past or the 10% we don't control hold us back.  You found your way to this site to learn how to regain control in your life and in your finances.  When you're ready to adjust your attitude toward remaking your finances and your life, then you my friend are indeed ready for the Financial Checklist.
